Hello from Queensland

Post  dragon on Wed Jan 28, 2009 2:53 am

Hi. I'm posting to introduce myself and to see if my Avatar worked.
I keep a number of show pigeons and some waterfowl.
Cheers, Gerry.

Our waterfowl are mostly domestic breeds, but we have a pair of Mandarins, a pair of Chestnut Teal and a pair of Burdekin ducks.

In Show pigeons I have Kings, Carneaux, Lahores, Ice, Saddlebacks, Fairy Swallows, English Owls, Egyptian Swifts, Show Racers, English and Bokhara Trumpeters, Reversewing Pouters, Holle Croppers, English Pouters, Brunner Pouters, and Jacobins.
I also have Swiss Mondains, but they are the English type, not the American standard. Although they can no longer be shown I've kept them going for some unkown reason.

I have 40 acres, so fortunately I'm only limited by the number of cages I can build and manage and the amount of feed I can afford.
We also keep parrots, cattle and miniature horses.

The Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Goura victoria, I've never seen outside state zoos. Some semi private zoos such as Gorge Wildlife Park, Cuddlee Creek, SA may have them, but you'll need to win XLotto to buy them I think.

http://rainforest-australia.com/brown_cuckoo_dove.html
The Brown Pheasant-tailed pigeon, Macropygia amboinensis, is not uncommon in private collections, but doves in general are very poorly represented in private collections. This is something I could never understand since so many people keep finches which should make it logical for them to also be interested in doves.

Are you going to organise some Categories for this forum:
Introductions and general chat.
Domestic waterfowl
Native and Ornamental waterfowl
Domestic and Show pigeons
Native pigeons and doves
Domestic and Show poultry
Pheasants and peafowl
Quail
For Sale/ Wanted to buy etc?

The White Naped Pheasant pigeon, Otidiphaps nobilis, from New Guinea, does not exist in Australian collections as far as I know.

I can't find "TOPICS" on the Home page.

Hi,

See if it workes now. But things are a bit diffrent. When you come to the home page it will either come up with Log in or the home page on the home page it will now Say TOPICS insted of Categorys. So click on TOPICS & the topics are there & Categorys is back up the top but with a diffrent name. Let me now if it workes.

Thanks, Admin.

From the URL in my notifier Email I reach this page. If I then click on Home I get:
Information
This board has no forums

If I come to the site through My Favourites menu I get:
Information
The activation key you supplied does not match any in the database.

The original page which I provided in an earlier post no longer comes up, so I now have no access to the site except that Memberlist etc work, and I can reach individual posts through Search.

I can reach this page (which is all I've ever seen of the site) by clicking on "Your First Category" at the bottom of this thread.
